We recently took a bit of a roadtrip (covered 13 states in 2 weeks) to visit family and friends and along the way we were able to stop in Branson, Missouri for a couple days.   The entertainment and shops were wonderful! Of course my favorite was the Christmas shop, Kringles Christmas! I lingered in there for over an hour and half, taking in all the colors, themes, spirit and ideas! This is one of the best Christmas shops I've ever been privileged to visit!! Done up with such class, and trees are themed so as to find specific ornaments and d├ęcor.  If ever you are in that neck of the woods....STOP IN!!     (To view photos larger just click on pic)

Such beautiful garlands around doors and windows!

The Holiday Nest Studio

The Holiday Nest Studio is gearing up to be in full swing starting tomorrow! Summer is always a hard time to have consistent sewing/crafting time because we try to cram so many activities into 3 short months. Christmas is always near the forefront of our minds here at the Holiday Nest and I've been re-visiting some of my favorite holiday magazines and Pinterest boards for inspiration. We will be doing a photo shoot of some of our latest Christmas stockings that we've been cranking out lately and we will post some of those pics soon!  Thought I would show some pics of the studio today as it is quite tidy, however, it won't stay that way for long!

If you look real close you can see my office assistant Chloe sleeping in her bed on the sewing table. She's not often ever very productive and she snores really loud!!

A few supplies and favorite holiday decorations that stay out way past Christmas for a little extra inspiration during the "off season".

Design Dazzle at The Pinner's Conference 2014

The Pinner's Conference 2014 was held in Salt Lake City at the South Town Expo Center and oh my did we have fun!!  My daughter Emily and I drove there for some shopping and learning and we had plenty of both.  The vendors were wonderful and there were numerous classes of all kinds:  cooking, makeup, hair styling, painting, card making, decorating, holiday crafting, Christmas traditions and many others.  One of my favorites was this precious Toni Roberts from the blog Design Dazzle. She is one of those spunky gals that you really enjoy learning from. I attended her class called "Making Christmas Magical" and believe me it was magical! She is a designer for Michaels Dream Team and she showcased the Christmas tree she designed for this years Dream Team Challenge. Her tree was called Santa's Cabin in the Woods which had a red and green plaid theme with lots of faux snow and a wintry woodsy feel. She has instructions and pics to show you how to make all the fun budget-friendly ideas from her tree. You can click on any of the highlighted words in this post to learn more about Toni's Design Dazzle Blog or Michaels Dream Team as well as info and classes from the 2014 Pinners Conference. Mosey on over to her blog, get a cup of tea and enjoy all of the wonderful creativity!

Hi! Greetings from Montana and welcome to THE HOLIDAY NEST!!  I'm so glad you are here and want to let you know that I am totally excited to be part of your day!

The Holiday Nest blog is launching today as an extension of my obsession passion for all things Christmas.... Heck, I even had a baby on Christmas morning one year....of course that wasn't my doing, she decided to arrive 10 days early!  Anywaaay......

I'm Charmaine McLaughlin, married with 3 kiddos ages 19-25, housewife/sewist/crafter/decorator/pattern designer/chocolate eater/farmgirl wannabe/magazine addict/estate sale goer and a Christian lover of Jesus!

My intention with this blog is to chronicle some of my better Holiday decorating ideas, crafts and sewing projects as well as to lead you to other blogs, shops, magazines and shows that have all different styles of Christmas fabulousness. I'm blessed to be able to attend a few Holiday/Christmas craft shows each year and I will post highlights from those shows featuring wonderful talents from around the country. I will also include new items for my Etsy shop!

I have difficulty settling on just one style of decorating as I am partial to Farmhouse style, Country, Scandanavian, a bit of French and English with some Shabby Garage Sale thrown in. Can't stick to a color preference either as I'm currently updating my main living areas with know that lovely gray/beige combo?  But I also love bright colors too.  Maybe that's because I'm ADD and have so many windows open in my brain all day long! Keeps me from getting bored I guess!

I hope you stop back by often and I appreciate comments to let me know what you like and any ideas you think I would like.  (To view sources for the photos just click on the caption under each pic).

Merry Christmas and Thank you for visiting!
